Take a bite out of all this event has to offer! From paddle races, to clinics, to fun parties – the Shark Bite will be sure to show you a great time!
This year, we celebrate 15 wonderful years of the Shark Bite Challenge! What originally was a local one-day race with 30 participants has molded into one of the country's largest and most celebrated paddling festival. Join us for a weekend of clinics, races, parties, fishing tournaments, games, demos, and family fun!
SBC is an event created for paddlers by paddlers. We welcome all levels, all crafts, and everyone is welcome to come take part in the event. We originally created the SBC to be a fun and welcoming paddle race for every kind of paddler. Despite the growing size or our event, we are proud to say that our mission remains the same.
The Shark Bite Challenge is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Island Parks. The funds raised at the Shark Bite Challenge go back into our most favorite paddling park and event venue, Honeymoon and Caladesi Island State Parks. Your race fee is 100% tax deductible, and benefits a great cause!
Thank you so much for supporting the Shark Bite Challenge. Chomp on sharkies, chomp on.
With much thanks from your event team,
Karen Tickner, Event Coordinator
Rob Mirlenbrink, Day 1 Race Event Coordinator
Humberto Curado, Outrigger Coordinator
Mike & Luana Moran, Small Town Political Attache
The Shark Bite Challenge is located in delightful Dunedin, Florida at Honeymoon Island State Park. Honeymoon Island is Florida's most visited state park!
The address of Honeymoon Island State Park is 1 Causeway Blvd, Dunedin, FL 34698
Dunedin is located 30 minutes from both Tampa International Airport (most major airlines) and St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport (Allegiant Airlines). Downtown Dunedin is chock full of shops, restaurants, bars, breweries, and more, and is located only 3 miles from the race venue. We encourage you to stay as close to Dunedin as possible, because you will love it! The Pinellas Trail is a paved fitness trail that runs through the entire county, and through Downtown Dunedin. Bike rentals are available in many Dunedin locations.
Dunedin is a quaint, small town, with a "keep it local" feel. We support our local businesses and hope you stay with us in town. Below are our local hotels.
